Unique and nifty modernist piece – a handy side-table, bedside, or display table. Deep red wood on black steel.
With high and low platforms it would also work well as a laptop desk – comfortable seat and compact scale.
Made from saved timber from a giant gum tree felled behind the Westgarth Cinema in Northcote.
We have milled and seasoned the wood, then spent many hours planing and sanding to achieve a smooth yet organic and tactile result. The timber is finished in scandinavian oil for a durable, protected finish. The steel-rod base is a 50s original, cleaned, repainted and repurposed.
Each piece is indiviually numbered – this is P+Q0014.
